Berlin Brandenburg International School offers an international education programme. An International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, BBIS is the first IB school in the world to be fully authorized by the International Baccalaureate organization in Geneva, Switzerland to teach all four IB programmes covering the 3 to 19-year-old age range.
BBIS views education as more than the acquisition of knowledge. Equally important to learning and living in a complex world are the skills gained through the process of inquiry, discovery, application, and creativity. The school’s commitment to academic excellence is matched by a belief in educating the whole person. Therefore, the curriculum provides both academic stimulation and a wide variety of educational experiences beyond the classroom.
BBIS offers excellent facilities (including a new full-size artificial-turf sports field with six-lane running track and a new multifunctional sports hall) and an extensive extracurricular programme for students of all ages.
Classes are small, usually with fewer than 18 students, which enable the teachers to know each student well and address their individual needs. BBIS has a student-teacher ratio of 6:1. Specific support is provided for students with special learning needs and those for whom English is not a first language.
